Our Company’s Mission and Values


First and foremost, Interpret Earth values the direct learning experience of each individual. The purpose of technology is only as a tool to enhance the overall learning process and enjoyment of the material. Our goal is to use technology in a seamless manner to create great interactive educational content, experiences and services to help individuals and especially children engage with and appreciate nature and the environment.

Our immediate focus is in creating interactive Electronic Nature Field Guides to foster and promote interest in nature and our environment by getting more people engaged with the outdoors and to promote education and learning about our natural world by presenting information and facts in a fun, informative and interactive way. We are accomplishing this by partnering with well established environmental education content providers to facilitate bringing their great content onto the most technically advanced and most popular mobile platform currently available, the Apple® iPod® touch and iPhone®.

Interpret Earth’s Company Name

You may wonder why we chose to use the word ‘Interpret’ in our company name. The word ‘interpreter’ has a variety of meanings, one of which is related to technology and one of which is related to nature education. In technology, an ‘interpreter’ is used to translate a high-level programming language into the actual low-level instructions used by a computer’s processor. In education, an ‘interpreter’ is an individual, like a National Park Ranger, who facilitates learning about the environment in order to enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of your natural surroundings. We thought our name ‘Interpret Earth’ was a great synthesis between technology and nature.
